Beyonce And Jay-Z Are The Highest-Paid Celebrity Couple In The World

First couple of hip-hop tops annual Forbes list, beating out Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady, who were #1 in 2011.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> are not only the undisputed first couple of hip-hop, but they are also the world's highest-paid celebrity couple, according to <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/andersonantunes/2012/08/06/the-worlds-highest-paid-celebrity-couples-2/" target="_blank">Forbes.</a>The music moguls rose to the top of the ranks after getting beat out by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2011/08/20/jay-z-beyonce-make-forbes-top-power-couples-list/">back in 2011</a>.This year, despite Beyoncé's seemingly lower profile in the music world, she still managed to rack in $40 million thanks to her many ventures in and out of music, including her 2011 album 4. As for Hova, well, Forbes notes he brought in slightly less with an income of $38 million thanks to his Watch the Throne album and tour with Kanye West, as well as his own enterprises outside of music.While their combined $78 million makes them the couple to beat, last year's #1 couple Gisele and Tom are following close at #2 with $72 million in a combined salary. They've earned their keep on the list through modeling gigs (for both partners) and his contract with the Patriots, which runs through 2014.What other power couples made the list? Well, Posh Spice Victoria Beckham and her Los Angeles Galaxy soccer-playing hubby, David Beckham, come in at #3, but are more than $20 million behind in salary. But don't feel too bad for them: They raked in a combined $54 million through endorsement deals, clothing lines and royalties. The Forbes list is compiled using data taken between May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012. In that time, the #4 couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, walked away with a combined $45 million. They earned their money as actors in both big- and small-budget films, and through modeling gigs like Jolie's with Louis Vuitton.The final couple in the top 5 is Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Their $40 million was made thanks to investments, endorsements and bankable roles in films like "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" and "Men In Black 3."<a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a>

He's the star of one of the biggest movie franchises in history and she's the best-selling musician of the past year. Together "Harry Potter" star <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/264615/personmain.jhtml">Daniel Radcliffe</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a> top the <a href="http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/public/richlist/article1014156.ece" target="_blank">Sunday Times Rich List</a> of England's youngest stars.<embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:711056/cp~vid%3D711056%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A711056" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed>Just how big a year did Adele, 23, have thanks to the global smash success of her 21 album? Consider that in 2012 her fortune has risen to more than $31.8 million from $9.5 million just a year before, according to the list, which will be published at month's end. She placed well ahead of Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole, whose fortune was estimated at $19.1 million on the list of the richest British musicians under 30.Among the other notable music makers on the list were Florence and the Machine singer Florence Welch, whose worth rose to more than $11.1 million, Taio Cruz ($7.9 million) and a new entry on the chart in a 10-way tie for 14th place, Adele's former BRIT School mate Jessie J ($7.9 million).The top 10 was dominated by women, with only two fellas, Craig David (#6, $12.7 million) and Paolo Nutini (#6, $12.7 million) making the cut among top earning ladies Leona Lewis, Katie Melua, Joss Stone, Charlotte Church, Lily Allen, Natasha Bedingfield and Duffy.On the acting side, "Potter" star Radcliffe is still far-and-away the richest British actor under 30, with a fortune estimated at $86.1 million, up from $76.6 million last year. Well behind is "Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson (#2, $63.6 million), Keira Knightley (#3, $47.7 million) and, in fifth place, "Potter" co-star Emma Watson ($41.4 million). Unless you just woke up from a coma after taking an interstellar trip on the Prometheus spaceship you probably noticed that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a> has been killing it on the charts this year. In fact, at the mid-way point of 2012, according to Nielsen SoundScan the singer's unstoppable <a href="/news/articles/1687277/adele-21-number-one-billboard-charts.jhtml">21</a> , which came out in the beginning of 2011, is the best seller of 2012 so far.Through the sales week ending on July 1, Nielsen SoundScan reports that the disc has sold 3.69 million copies, making it the only disc this year that has sold more than one million. Wayyyy behind is the year's surprise #2, veteran R&B singer Lionel Richie's country duets album Tuskegee (912,000), followed closely by One Direction's Up All Night (899,000), a greatest hits collection from the late Whitney Houston (818,000) and the NOW 41 hits compilation (714,000).<div class="player-placeholder right" title="One Direction - "What Makes You Beautiful"" isvevo="true" isrc="GB1101100318" id="vid:731798" width="415" height="255"></div>Rounding out the top 10: Carrie Underwood, Blown Away (602,000), Luke Bryan, Tailgates & Tanlines (575,000), Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (557,000), Drake, Take Care (549,000) and Adele's debut, 19 (539,000). Other notable albums in the top 20 include: Justin Bieber, Believe (#12, 490,000), Madonna's MDNA (#13, 484,000), Black Keys, El Camino (#16, 424,000) and Rihanna's Talk That Talk (#17, 424,000).When it comes to download song sales, it was all about <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/gotye/artist.jhtml">Gotye's</a> <a href="/news/articles/1686241/gotye-somebody-that-i-used-to-know-remix-album.jhtml">"Somebody That I Used to Know."</a> With more than 5.5 million in sales, it is one of two songs to move that many units this year, with Fun.'s "We Are Young" hot on its heels at 5.09 million. Both songs are record-breakers, since, according to <a href="http://www.billboard.com/news/adele-gotye-lead-mid-year-soundscan-charts-1007491562.story?utm_source=most_recent" target="_blank">Billboard</a> no song has ever sold five million copies in the first six months of a calendar year.With no end in sight to "Somebody"'s sales, it could become the first tune to sell six million downloads in a year. Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" just missed the top 10 (#11, 2.5 million), edging LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It" (#12, 2.1 million), Katy Perry's "Part of Me" (#14, 2 million), Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa's "Young, Wild & Free" (#15, 2 million), Drake's "The Motto" (#18, 1.8 million) and Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" (#20, 1.7 million).It should surprise no one that digi-phobe Jack White topped the vinyl album sales with his solo debut, <link type="content" id1684193">Blunderbuss</link>  (18,000), with the Key's El Camino just behind (17,600) and perennial album fetish object the Beatles' Abbey Road at #3 (15,700).Overall music sales, which includes album and tracks, are up four percent over the same period last year with overall album sales pretty much flat. CD sales continue to account for the bulk of albums moved at 61 percent, though that's down 5 percent from 2011, as digital album sales were up 14 percent, putting them on a pace to set new sales records by year's end.

Earlier today, we caught Big Brother season 14 contestant Britney Haynes,moping and looking pretty sad on the live feeds as she knows her eviction from the house is imminent on the live show tonight. We wished Britney would've put up more of a fight, instead of immediately getting down on herself. That was her demise in season 12,and it will be her demise this season. Sure, she got played,hardcore, in season 12 by the Brigade,but Enzo himself, said he could've maybe been swayed if she would've at least pitched him an enticing offer when it came down to the final four. And there's no doubt in my mind, if she had a little more fight in her,she could've made a more compelling offer to Joe and Shane to vote for her this season. Anyways, it's just sad because I actually like Britney and it sucks to see her get screwed again, but she does need to learn to fight back more.

Eminem Inducts Run-DMC Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame With Poetic Tribute

'Two turntables and a microphone, that's all it took to change the world,' Em says of his heroes.

On the night when <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="944">Run-DMC</MTVNLINK> became only the second hip-hop act to be inducted into the <a href="/news/articles/1608425/run-dmc-metallica-lead-rock-roll-hall-fame-inductees.jhtml">Rock and Roll Hall of Fame</a>, it was fitting that the group that blazed the trail between rock and rap in the 1980s was invited into the rarified club by a hip-hop icon of the modern era whose career is built on their bedrock: <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="502642">Eminem</MTVNLINK>.<div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"> <embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:368936" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D368936" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div>His sartorial style inspired by his heroes, from the black leather jacket, shirt and pants, to the black fedora tilted on his head, <a href="/news/articles/1607474/eminem-induct-run-dmc-into-rock-roll-hall-fame.jhtml">Eminem</a> bounded onto the stage with a pimping swagger and crossed his arms in a Run-DMC style as he leaned into the microphone."Two turntables and a microphone, that's all it took to change the world," the reclusive Detroit MC began. "Three kings from Queens made rap music in the b-boy stance a global phenomenon," he said of the group's members, rappers Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and late DJ Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. Clearly humbled by the honor, Slim Shady's speech had a lyrical groove as he added, "Something fresh, something tough. Something dangerous. Something beautiful and something unique. Two turntables and a microphone," staring out at the crowd and rubbing his hands together as if savoring the treat of setting up his heroes for the glory they so richly deserve.Recalling how their 1985 video for "King of Rock" had them crashing a fictional Rock and Roll Museum and being told they didn't belong in such a museum, Eminem said, "And 25 years later, man, here we are. They didn't take no for an answer, much the same way as they didn't give up when much of the world refused to recognize rap as real music. They were the first rock stars of rap. They were the first movie stars of rap. They were the first rap group played on MTV. ... They were the baddest of the bad, the coolest of the cool. Two turntables and a microphone."Em talked about not knowing what he wanted to do in life while growing up in Detroit and then hearing Run-DMC and realizing "that you could write your own rules, which is something that still inspires me, as well as every rap other artist, constantly." And then the crowd finally caught on to the rhythm of Slim's callback refrain and repeated along with him, "Two turntables and a microphone.""I remember being in ninth grade when Raising Hell came out," he recalled, and wryly added, "Two years later, I still remember being in ninth grade when Tougher Than Leather came out. I had skipped school, if you can believe that, to go buy Tougher Than Leather on cassette the day it came out. As soon as I heard 'Run's House,' man, it was pretty much a rap for me. Marshall Mathers became Eminem. It was the first time Run-DMC had changed my life, but it wouldn't be the last. Two turntables and a microphone."Bringing the group's indelible career into the present, Em paid tribute to late DJ Mizell's mentorship of Slim's protégé, 50 Cent. "Jay shaped the way 50 wrote, the way he rapped and the way he thought," Em said of Fif, whose early works were overseen by Mizell. "Again, Run-DMC changed my life. Without them I wouldn't have met one of my closest friends."Eminem closed by saying that the group's impact can be felt everywhere. Echoing one of the group's most famous couplets from "King of Rock," Em concluded, "There's three of them, and if you grew up on hip-hop like I did, they are the Beatles."With their friends and family surrounding them onstage, Rev Run first thanked Mizell's mother for always allowing the young trio to practice at her home and never asking them to turn down the volume. He also thanked his brother, hip-hop impresario Russell Simmons, who convinced the group to change their name from the Sure Shot Three and to mash rock with their rap.Paying touching homage to his adoptive parents, DMC urged the crowd to give love to foster children. "If my birth mother never gave me up, my real mother would have never came and got me," he said, hitting on one of the topics that has become his abiding passion since the group broke up in 2002 following <a href="/news/articles/1458435/run-dmcs-jam-master-jay-murdered.jhtml">Jay's still unsolved murder</a>. "There would be no Run-DMC; there would be no rap music the way it is today. ... But forget about all that celebrity stuff, y'all. This little boy, Darryl McDaniels, wouldn't be standing here tonight telling y'all that. The best thing y'all can do is give love to a kid, because that kid may grow up and be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame one day."Mizell's mother, Connie Mizell, also reminisced lovingly about how her late son tore up every one of her turntables learning how to scratch, and she didn't mind. And how "the boys" would be tearing it up in the next room as she studied in the adjoining room, and she didn't mind. "Nothing happens before time," she said. "It wasn't time when Jason was living. It was time after he'd gone. Because you see the blessings is still going on. He is not forgotten."The group did not perform at the ceremony, in keeping with their pledge not to play live again following Mizell's death.

Taylor Swift Reveals 'We Are Never Ever ...' Is Based On Her Ex

Swift's new single inspired by her personal 'break up, get back together' drama, she tells ABC News.

"Max says, 'This is what we're writing; we're writing this song,' " Swift recalls. "And I picked up the guitar and just started singing 'we are never.' It just happened so fast. Run-DMC Recall 'My Adidas' Impact, 25 Years Later

'It was bigger than just talking about how many pairs of sneakers we had,' Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels tells MTV News.

NEW YORK — A quarter century after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/run_dmc/artist.jhtml">Run-DMC</a> dedicated a song to their sneaker brand of choice, DMC is still rocking his Adidas for hip-hop.On Friday morning (November 11), Darryl "DMC" McDaniels of the seminal Queens rap group was in the Harlem USA clothing store on 125th Street signing autographs for fans who purchased a special Adidas Originals Superstar 80s model commemorating the 25th anniversary of Run-DMC's "My Adidas."<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Run-DMC Says 'My Adidas' Was About More Than Just Sneakers" id="vid:710696" width="240" height="211"></div>The song was released in 1986 and appears on Run-DMC's triple-platinum Raising Hell album. The hit record was inspired by more than just bragging and boasting about their collection of kicks, though."It was a song that was about our sneakers, but it was bigger than just talking about how many pairs of sneakers we had," DMC told MTV News. "It came from the place of people would look at the b-boys, the b-girls and go, 'Oh, those are the people that cause all the problems in here.' And, 'Those young people are nothing but troublemakers and those young people don't know nothing.' So they was judging the book by its cover, without seeing what was inside of it."DMC continued, "So me, Run and [Jam Master] Jay was like, 'Yeah, we going to make a record about our Adidas.' Yeah, we wear Adidas [with] no laces, we got gold chains, we got Cazals and all of that, but I go to St. John's University. These Adidas stepped onstage at Live Aid. People gave and the poor got paid. It was about taking the image of the b-boy and b-girl and letting the world know we're a people of vision, we're inspiration, motivation, we're educated too. So it's kind of a kick in the face to the people that was hating on hip-hop."Run-DMC's lyrical certification of "shelltoe" Adidas led to the first-ever endorsement deal between a music act and an athletic company. The limited-edition "My Adidas" Superstar 80s model is the same shoe Run, DMC and Jam Master Jay wore back in the day with special details like the JMJ logo on the heel, "1986" stitched on the side and a gold lace lock designed to look like a dookie-rope gold chain. Only 1,986 of the shoes will be made for sale to the public.Back in 1986, Run-DMC said seeing all their fans rock Adidas sneakers and gear on the strength of their co-sign was actually a bit disconcerting. "It was scary," DMC said. "We was going through Detroit, through Boston, through Chicago, through LA, through Virginia; every city we went to on the Raising Hell Tour, we would look out the back of the tour bus and everybody had the Adidas [track] suits from head to toe. The Cazals, the hats, the Kangols, and they had those Adidas on. You would think we would sit in the back of the bus and go, 'Yo, we gonna get paid!' "However, the trio were aware of the responsibility their tastemaking influence carried. Justin Bieber Searches For One Fan To Dance On Believe Tour

"We're gonna make you believe in magic," tour director Jon Chu says in online casting call.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> is offering up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one of his lucky Beliebers.The singer has just launched a campaign where fans can upload videos of themselves dancing. One lucky dancer will score a coveted audition spot with Bieber to try and snag a dancer position on his <a href="/news/articles/1686358/justin-bieber-believe-tour.jhtml">Believe tour</a>.Bieber, with the help of his "Never Say Never" helmer and his tour director, Jon M. Chu, will be scouring <a href="http://www.youtube.com/ds2dio" target="_blank">Chu's D-Studio</link> to find the next great dancing talent. The campaign launched Friday (August 3), while in-person dance auditions kicked off earlier this week in L.A.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Proving His Haters Wrong With 'Good Music'" id="vid:793035" width="415" height="255"></div>"Justin also has such a huge online component, that's where he was discovered," Chu told <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/335327/Justin-Bieber-Launches-New-Site-to-Find-Dancers-for-Believe-Tour" target="_blank">E! News</a>. "You can upload your own video and audition.""We're only looking for the best dancers in the world. "It's gonna be like an epic journey."The guys are looking for dancers of all styles. Chu added that Bieber and the team have a certain goal for the tour, "We're gonna make you believe in magic." Submissions must be in by August 17. Katherine Jackson Is 'Fine,' Confirms Custody Change

After going missing, Katherine says she has temporarily lost custody of Michael's children.

After a <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/07/23/michael-jacksons-mother-not-missing/">mysterious disappearance</a> that set off a wild <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/07/25/fight-details-janet-and-paris-jackson/">war of words (and fists)</a> and splashed her family's business all over the media, Katherine Jackson broke her silence on Wednesday night in an attempt to set the record straight."I am here today to let everybody know that I am fine and I am here with my children, and my children would never do a thing to me like that, holding me against my will," she told <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/katherine-jackson-court-hearing-based-bunch-lies-exclusive/story?id=16857775&page=2#.UBEzD47v3iR" target="_blank">ABC News</a> in a statement that denied rumors she'd been kidnapped or held against her will by a group of her children. Surrounded by children Janet, Jermaine and Rebbie, as well as Rebbie's daughter, Stacy, Katherine spoke to ABC, but would not allow the network to ask her any questions. "It's very stupid for people to think that. But anyway, I am devastated that while I've been away, that my children, my grandchildren, have been taken away from me, and I'm coming home to see about that, also."On Wednesday, a judge temporarily stripped the Jackson family matriarch of her guardianship duties for late King of Pop Michael's three children, Prince, Paris and Prince Michael II ("Blanket") handing responsibility over to their cousin, TJ Jackson. In appointing TJ, 34, son of Tito Jackson, as the new guardian for the children, the judge the judge may have further stirred the pot in what appears to be a tug-of-war between Michael's adult siblings over the late pop icon's estate. During an emergency guardianship hearing, the judge said he was not suspending Katherine for any wrongdoing, but said that she was being blocked from carrying out her guardianship by unnamed third parties, which TMZ speculated were siblings Randy, Janet, Jermaine and Rebbie.Katherine said she had spoken to TJ (as well as Prince and Paris) and that she had left him in charge of the children when she left town more than a week ago to get some rest at a ranch in Tucson, Arizona. "I never leave home without leaving instructions of who to stay there with them," she said, noting that during her leave taking "someone" had fired the cook, the nanny and the housekeepers at the family's Encino, California, estate without her knowledge."I told him it wasn't necessary for him to go down and sign for guardianship," she said of TJ. "I don't know who instructed him to do that ... but he wanted me to come home before that happened, but the ruling in court today was about the guardianship and I think it was based on a bunch of lies, but I have a good idea who's doing that and who's behind that."Katherine, 82, did not specify who she thought was behind the decision to temporarily rescind her guardianship, but she thanked her children for realizing that she needed a "short vacation." She also explained that the reason she didn't call for more than a week was that, "I just gave up my phone and I didn't want to have any phone calls while I was here." She also noted that her assistant had been in touch with TJ and that she "put everything in order" before she left Los Angeles on July 15."Because there's a lot of lies that have been put out there and I am going home to straighten them out and this kind of stuff doesn't make sense," she concluded. "So I want to say goodbye and I am on my way home."One of Katherine's lawyers, Perry Sanders, said in court that he vigorously opposed a permanent move to strip Katherine of her guardianship and that when she returns to Los Angeles he will file a motion to reinstate her as guardian. The judge also ordered that the children not be removed from California without a court order and that backup guardian Diana Ross and Debbie Rowe, biological mother of the two oldest children, also be informed of the order to keep the kids in the state.The temporary guardianship will be reviewed at a hearing scheduled for next month, where it's possible that Wednesday's action could be reversed.While Michael's will gave Katherine custody of his children and a 20 percent stake in his massive estate, her husband, Joe Jackson, and the eight surviving Jackson siblings were completely cut out. Some of the siblings have reportedly been exploring a move to have the will invalidated by arguing that Michael was in New York on the day that the document was notarized in Los Angeles.In a video that surfaced earlier this week, Janet Jackson is seen trying to take a cell phone away from Paris, 14, and berating her niece for using her phone to tweet about family business. That video leaked after Janet, Jermaine and Randy Jackson reportedly attempted to persuade Paris and Prince, 15, to leave Katherine's home on Monday. Both resisted and a short time later, sheriff's deputies arrived to break up a scuffle between Randy, Jermaine Jackson and TJ.<a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/07/24/fight-at-michael-jacksons-mother-house-police-called/">MTV News</a> reported that police were called to the scene but did not make any arrests.

She even implied that the dance track would be the first single from the new album. "Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said. As her 5th album Beautiful Surprise lands in stores today, gorgeous songstress Tamia spoke to KEMPIRE RADIO recently where she dished on where R&B music is headed, if she feels underrated and living a normal life with Grant Hill. Here are the highlights:

On the state of R&B:

"Well, I think we all need to support R&B. I do think a good song, good lyrics and good melody never die. It's timeless. That's always what I set out to do." She added that some of her own favorite vocalists are Tank, Miguel, and Anita Baker.

On being underrated:

"I really do feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be at the moment. Life has its ups and downs of course, but I am maintaining. I'm still here and I'm very proud in that. I focus on putting my heart and soul in the project and I love the connection I make with strangers through music."

On normalcy with Grant Hill:

"We just live a normal lifestyle. Our everyday life is really Mom and Dad. Everything centers around our kids and that's a busy life. It's just who we are. We live to be drama free and live a normal life." She added that being on a reality would not be her idea of a "normal life."
