Jessica Simpson 'Enjoying Being Engaged'

Singer tells Lucky magazine she and Eric Johnson haven't started shopping for their wedding: 'I have not put a single dress on.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Jessica Simpson sparkles on the December cover of Lucky magazine, and while she may not be dishing on becoming a mom in the issue, she does open up about planning her wedding, letting everyone know she's in no rush to walk down the aisle.

"I haven't started shopping for our wedding yet," she tells the magazine. "When I got engaged, everyone thought I would get married immediately, but I have not put a single dress on, and by the time this comes out, I will not be married! We're just enjoying being engaged right now, and that's honest."

Photos: Jessica Simpson's budding baby bump!

Simpson and former football player Eric Johnson got engaged last year, and on Monday, she broke the news that the couple is expecting their first child together. "When I met him, I just felt so comfortable with myself and where I was in my life that if he didn't want to be part of it, he didn't have to be," she explains about her feelings on love when she and Johnson first started dating. And she says that these days, she's driven by a whole new set of ambitions — none of which has to with life as a celebrity.

"I'm not looking for more fame or money," the mom-to-be adds. "I am very secure in those areas."

The singer/actress/mogul also talks a bit about the chatter around her figure, saying that despite any criticism she might receive for her curves, "I like the way I look."

"Everybody fluctuates, but I'm open about my weight, and I'm still confident. I didn't cry about it too much," she explains. "I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding. Because when you're really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you. All kinds of women started coming up to me and saying what an example I was setting by not constantly dieting."

SERIOUSLY? Shaunie O'Neal ADMITS Evelyn Lozada and Tami Roman Are BULLIES On "Basketball Wives"

"Executive Producer" Shaunie O'Neal is speaking out about what's been happening on "Basketball Wives" lately and she admits that some of the ladies on the show can be "bullies." Shocker. Get the deets inside.......

During a chat with Hip Hollywood, Shaunie O'Neal confirmed what we already know....Evelyn Lozada is a bully. But instead of simply throwing Evelyn under the bus, Shaunie cleaned it up adding that Evelyn is such a "strong" personality that when she is put up against someone like Jennifer, she could seem a bit overwhelming.

As for Tami Roman, Shaunie compared her to Evelyn and said she is a sweetheart. But she added that you might not want to cross her.

But what she left out was if she thinks bullies have the right to lay hands on others. Hmmm.......

Shaunie is going to have to come a little better than that as I'm sure Star Jones and the rest of the ladies gearing up for a boycott aren't going to buy into the whole "strong personality" thing.

At this point, it simply looks like Shaunie is trying to save face and protect her brand. We all know she doesn't have any real creative control over what the show airs, yet she still continues to defend what is broadcast. She released a statement recently saying,

"I'm extremely happy that Basketball Wives continues to have another successful fourth season. As the ratings have been through the roof since our season opener, fans continue to tune into the lives of Evelyn, Tami, Jennifer, Royce, Suzie and myself. As there is always controversy and indifference projected on the show, because we are all individual personalities, I always hope that people will find that as much as you may agree or disagree with the opinions, the behavior, [and] even our different taste in shoes, you are taking a look inside the lives of four complete different women. I will never say I agree with some of the behavior between my girlfriends on the show, but if we were to edit certain things out the show would be scripted and not reality.

As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support."

Alrighty.

'The Voice' Recap: The Live Shows Begin!

Teams Blake and Christina hit the stage as audience voting begins on 'The Voice.'
By John Mitchell

After weeks of blind auditions and battle rounds, "The Voice" finally went live Monday night (April 2), with Teams Blake and Christina taking the stage. America now gets to vote on the best of the best, and the top three from each team will move on to the next round.

Twenty-four contestants survived the blind auditions and brutal battle rounds to make it to the live shows, and now their fate lies in the hands of viewers, who will take over for judges/mentors Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green in deciding who continues on and who goes home. Entering the ring for Monday's two-hour performance show (results will be broadcast live Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET), the teams were as follows:

Team Adam: Karla Davis, Katrina Parker, Kim Yarbrough, Mathai, Pip and Tony Luca

Team Blake: Charlotte Sometimes, Erin Willett, Jermaine Paul, Jordis Unga, Naia Kete and RaeLynn

Team Xtina: Ashley De La Rosa, Chris Mann, Jesse Campbell, Lindsey Pavao, Moses Stone and Sera Hill

Team Cee Lo: Cheesa, Erin Martin, Jamar Rogers, James Massone, Juliet Simms and Tony Vincent

Aguilera was looking great with a simpler style and a whole lot less hair, but the judge to watch on the fashion front was Cee Lo, who rocked a strange disco clown-meets-Elvis costume and shaggy '70s wig. "There's something a little different about you tonight," Adam joked to the "Forget You" singer. Referring to the dashing Levine's newly shaved head, Cee Lo said, "Adam cut his off, so I decided to grown mine out."

Now, on to the actual competition.

First up was Team Blake's Jermaine Paul. Paul made a big impression, entering from the back of the theater amid blinding lights before making his way to the stage, but Aguilera commented that the song Shelton gave him, Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer," was an unconventional choice for the former Alicia Keys backup singer. "I didn't see the connection with the song choice," Aguilera said. "[But] you brought soul to it."

Shelton disagreed. "I think girls tend to like you singing that song a lot," he said, to much screaming and applause.

Team Christina's Chris Mann was much more subdued when he hit the stage to sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and his classically trained voice had all the judges swooning over his pitch-perfect delivery. "You really owned it," Xtina said. "You made it your own."

Shelton gave his next contestant, 17-year-old Texan RaeLynn, a tall order: to turn "Wake Up Call" by "Voice" coach Levine's own band Maroon 5 into a country/rock song. "It is a risk taking a famous pop song and turning it country, but I think America's going to like that," RaeLynn said before stomping around the stage confidently in her cowboy boots and frilly dress.

"You're a sassy little thing," Aguilera commented. "Are you allowed to grind your hips at your age like that?"

Christina then called out what we already know: that there is a romance going on between Levine and Shelton. "You and the Maroon 5," Aguilera joked about Shelton's choice of Levine's song. (We know, Christina! We know!)

Moses Stone of Team Xtina was up next with a medley of Kanye West's "Stronger"/"Power." Backed by a fleet of dancers, the lone "Voice" rapper showed off his ability to move and stir up the audience. "I think you're a natural onstage," Cee Lo said. Adam agreed, saying, "There's no doubt [that] you know how to entertain."

The performance was one of many that was pretty much professional level, including everything from backup dancers and flashy costumes to abundant lighting and a massive backing band/orchestra.

Blake even (we assume inadvertently) complimented Aguilera when he said, "She's already working for you," while praising Stone's singing voice. "You do it all," Aguilera cheered, talking up Stone's ability to sing, rap and perform choreography.

In one of the rare occasions where a "Voice" coach recommended that one of his singers stay true to the way a song is performed on an album, Blake pushed street performer Naya Kete to stick to the original arrangement of "Turning Tables" as it was recorded by Adele.

Aguilera unsurprisingly disagreed, and she and Shelton clashed. He thought Naya brought a lot of personality and tenderness to the song, while the "Beautiful" songbird wished Kete would have included more of her own jazz style to the performance.

In the night's strangest performance (fully dressed division), Aguilera paired raspy-voiced Lindsey Pavao with Gotye's "Somebody I Used to Know," and she brought, um, creepy burlesque dancers and clowns in masquerade masks onstage for her performance. Even with the strange distractions, the judges were listening closely, and Adam thought she was missing the power Gotye brought to the chorus. Her coach Christina was pleased, though, saying that every time she hears Paveo sing she thinks "Where is her record? I could listen to this girl all day."

Team Blake's rocker Jordin Unga was strong and hit all the right notes in a memorable take on Heart's difficult "Alone," inspiring her coach to say, "I'm just so glad America has the chance to find out who you are."

That's the thing about "The Voice" judges: They always know the perfect thing to say. (It must be the influence of smooth, newly single lady's man Levine being on the panel.)

For the night's oddest performance (shirtless edition), enter Team Christina's Sera Hill, who not only made Drake's "Find Your Love" all her own (and practically unrecognizable) as a Mary J. Blige-like R&B slow jam, but also turned the stage into a Chippendale's review (green lasers and all). "I know this was your idea," Shelton told Aguilera of Hill's studly backup dancers. (We know it too; she's "Dirrty" and we like that about her.)

"I was waiting for Christina to start stuffing some 1's in those guys' pants," Blake continued. He didn't have much to say about Hill's actual performance, because "it's hard to get past the male strippers onstage. ... There were male strippers on the stage on 'The Voice.' "

For Team Blake's Erin Willett performance, the stage was transformed into a Prohibition-era speakeasy. Willett started into her Stevie Wonder cover at the piano before joining the swinging dancers for a Broadway-like performance. Shelton called Willett's performance the "best vocal performance of the night," and even Aguilera had to begrudgingly agree.

The next two performers took alternate routes to putting the best spin on their talents now that America is voting. Rocker Ashley De La Rosa chose to play it safe, sticking to her rocker-girl wheelhouse with "Right Through You" by Alanis Morrisette. And it worked for her: Levine called her "the most improved by far." When Aguilera agreed, he joked, "We just got along," stoking those rumors that Aguilera can be a little diva on set.

Unlike De La Rosa, Charlotte Sometimes changed things up so the live audiences would get a chance to hear a different side of her unique voice than they had at this point in the competition. She chose to rearrange Paramore's "Misery" to create a softer showcase to show that she can be a delicate singer as well as a fiery one.

The night's final performance was a fine (if very safe) one: jazzy crooner Jesse Campbell singing "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. "If someone from my team doesn't win, I'm looking for you to win this," Cee Lo told Campbell. Adam agreed that Campbell was "the one to beat." But Aguilera must have been worried her "Moves Like Jagger" duet partner was going to turn negative, because the two ended the show in a (non) lovers spat, bickering back and forth as the credits rolled.

Who do you think will get sent home on tomorrow's results show? Let us know in the comments below!

Taylor Swift's Road To Rap: T-Swizzle To B.o.B's 'Both Of Us'

MTV News takes a look at Swift's hip-hop history, leading up to her track with the Strange Clouds rapper.
By Jocelyn Vena

Taylor Swift — or T-Swizzle, as she's known in rap circles — has been working her way toward a legitimate appearance on a hip-hop track for some time now. After welcoming many an MC onstage during her Speak Now Tour, the singer now guests on B.o.B's Strange Clouds track "Both of Us."

The Dr. Luke-produced song blends the unlikely duo's musical genres, with jangly guitars that pay homage to Swift's country roots and synthy beats that have Bobby Ray's hip-hop flavor. Surprisingly, the duet came about at the insistence of the singer. B.o.B recently explained that "she came to Atlanta and she hit up Grand Hustle. I wasn't there. Tip was there and I eventually linked with her in Dallas and the rest is history."

This is not the first time the twosome have appeared on a song together. Last year, during Swift's tour, B.o.B took the stage to perform "Airplanes" with the star. Swift took over chorus duties from her pal (and Paramore leading lady) Hayley Williams.

But we have to go back even further than that to really dive into T-Swizzle's hip-hop history.

In a 2008 MTV News interview, the singer opened up about one day wanting to work with rappers. "I'd like to do a completely off-the-wall collaboration," she said. "I would like one of my songs to be the hook to a rap song. That would be so much fun! You know, I love Kanye West and I love T.I. — he's amazing."

The following year, at the 2009 CMT Awards, she hooked up with T-Pain to parody her good-girl image in the song "Thug Life." She showed not only her gangster side, but also her funny bone, rapping lyrics like, "You can find me making cookies at night/ You out clubbing? I just made caramel delights."

Taking some time off from her rap game for a minute, in 2011 she enlisted the likes of Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, and, yes, T.I. to put her stamp on some of their biggest hits during the Speak Now Tour.

See why Taylor Swift is the crunkest chick in country music

Initially, it surprised Tip that the country cutie would want to have him appear onstage with her last October.

T.I. explained, "I was confused, because I know it's a phenomenal opportunity, but being T.I. — the Rubberband Man — and Taylor Swift being America's Sweetheart, I had just gotten out of prison like two days [earlier] and all of a sudden my phone rings."

Eventually, though, she was welcomed with open arms into his crew. "Taylor's extended Hustle gang. She a part of the crew," T.I. said in March. "She just ain't got her dog tags yet, but she's a part of the crew, though."

In the midst of the tour, Swift talked about asking rappers to perform with her. "I'm a huge hip-hop fan," she shared. "And it's been so amazing to have so many incredible artists come out and to get to sing the hooks on their songs that I've been blasting in my car for the last couple years."

Now, with so much practice singing other people's hooks behind her, it seems like the right time for her to get her own. On the B.o.B track, she sings, "I wish I was strong enough to lift not one, but both of us/ Someday, I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us." The lines mirror the song's theme of battling hardships and strife.

"Both of Us" will be featured on B.o.B's May album release.

Are you ready for more T-Swizzle? Let us know in the comments!

Nicki Minaj's Roman Reloaded Was Initially Hard-Core Rap

But the pop-heavy LP is 'a lot better than how we planned,' Nicki's pal-turned-co-executive producer Safaree 'SB' Samuels tells MTV News.
By Sowmya Krishnamurthy, with reporting by Rob Markman

Nicki Minaj's right-hand man Safaree "SB" Samuels took on another role for his longtime friend when he signed on as a co-executive producer on her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. When MTV News caught up with SB, he explained how he made sure everything from "A to Z was done."

Samuels said his tasks on the project included scouting for beats and keeping in touch with producers to make sure deadlines were met. When asked how he helped Nicki to strike a balance between hip-hop and pop, SB revealed that the album was initially skewed toward rap.

"In the beginning, we was gonna make it some rap spittin' sh-- and it was going to have a couple of songs that were going to be the 'Super Bass'-es and joints like that," he revealed. After hearing just one beat, both Nicki and SB thought "We need more!" Hit Boy sent around six great beats, and they decided on two for the songs "Come on a Cone" and "I Am Your Leader," which features Cam'ron and Rick Ross. (Incidentally, those are both SB's favorites on the album.)

But on the topic of crossover appeal and whether Nicki has deserted her rap roots, SB couldn't disagree more.

"She's still doing her rap sh--, she's still doing her crossover sh--," he said. "When you a star, you a star. You can't deny it."

Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded debuted at #1 this week, selling 253,000 copies in its first week on the Billboard albums chart. Mary J. Blige Takes On Pat Benatar, Journey In 'Rock Of Ages'

Queen of Hip-Hop Soul tells MTV News her character in the big-screen '80s musical is 'a light in a dark place.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Mary J. Blige is already one of the biggest divas in the music industry, but she's gearing up to set the big screen on fire in 2012 with the movie version of the hit Broadway show "Rock of Ages."

"In the movie 'Rock of Ages,' I play a gentleman's club owner and her name is Justice Charlier and she has to try to be a light in a dark place. ... [My role is] to make these chicks feel better about their lives and move past the strip club," she told MTV News at "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul," where she took the stage alongside Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Jill Scott.

But the movie's not sad all the time. The singer noted that, much like the stage spectacle the film is based on, there are good times to be had. And for anyone who loved the Broadway show or has watched the "Rock of Ages" trailer, it's clear that '80s nostalgia and merriment will be celebrated in abundance. "[It's] a lot of '80s classic rock that I'm singing: Pat Benatar, Journey even," she said. "It's fun."

Directed by Adam Shankman, the film drops next summer and co-stars Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alec Baldwin.

Blige also was just nominated for a Golden Globe for her song from "The Help" soundtrack. Blige's "The Living Proof" also landed on the Oscars short list for Best Original Song. So, 2012 could be the year that Mary J. takes La La Land by storm.

"I'm excited about all of the success because I work really hard," she explained. "I put time in. I'm the type of artist that doesn't get anything for free. I have to bust my tail for everything, and I did exactly that."

Check out everything we've got on "Rock of Ages."

For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com.

12 Best Hip-Hop Christmas Songs Of All Time

From a Run-D.M.C. classic to raps with not-so-merry sentiments, here's MTV News' nontraditional playlist.
By Rob Markman

Sure, Michael Bublé and Justin Bieber are the current Christmas crown holders, but what if your yuletide tastes require a harder edge? While rappers aren't exactly known for spreading holiday cheer, hip-hop has given fans plenty of rap carols. Run-D.M.C.'s 1987 classic "Christmas in Hollis" may be the most-popular, but new-schoolers like Ludacris and Kanye West have kept rap's Xmas tradition alive.

If you've grown tired of listening to Nat King Cole's 1946 "The Christmas Song" or even Mariah Carey's more recent 1994 hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You," MTV News has compiled a 12-song playlist of rap's best Christmas-themed hits.

"Christmas in Hollis," Run-D.M.C.

No doubt the greatest rap carol ever recorded, this 1987 classic found Run and partner-in-rhyme D.M.C. rapping about Christmas in their Hollis, Queens, New York, neighborhood. Who could forget Run spitting about finding Santa's wallet with $1 million in it? Or D.M.C.'s verse that toasted his mother's collard-greens-and-mac-and-cheese Christmas dinner?

"Christmas Rappin'," Kurtis Blow

Run-D.M.C. may have done it best, but Kurtis Blow did it first when he recorded "Christmas Rappin' " in 1979. It's not hard to figure out how Kurtis Blow became rap's first bankable solo star — he represented something fresh and original. Putting a new twist on the Christmas carol, Blow rapped, "Don't you give me all that jive about things you wrote before I was alive/ 'Cause this ain't 1823 or even 1970." Take that Santa!

"Christmas in Harlem," Kanye West featuring Big Sean, Pusha T, et al

Leave it to Kanye West to present the grandest rap carol with "Christmas in Harlem." Not only did the song feature the Louis Vuitton Don and his G.O.O.D. Music team, 'Ye also grabbed Dipset MCs Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Vado in addition to Musiq Soulchild, Cyhi da Prynce and Teyana Taylor to join in on the festivities. Produced by Hit-Boy, the six-minute, 32-second track found each of the rappers giving a different take on the holidays. Yeezy, who plays Bad Santa, recounts a December 25 sexual escapade, while Jim Jones goes on a shopping spree. Sounds like a hodgepodge, but in the end it all came together quite nicely.

"Christmas Rap," the Treacherous 3

Every hip-hop fan should watch the 1984 cult classic "Beat Street" at least once in life. Kudos to those old enough to remember the Treacherous Three's hilarious "Christmas Rap," on which the Bronx, New York, MCs collaborated with Doug E. Fresh and dissed Santa for putting bootleg gifts under the tree.

"Ludacrismas," Ludacris

If Ludacris was cast in the 2007 holiday film "Fred Claus," why wouldn't he add to the movie's soundtrack? On "Ludacrismas," the ATL MC gets busy by rapping lyrics like, "I tell 'em all I want for Christmas is two gold front teeth." If not for the beat's persistent sleigh bells, this one could bang all year round.

"Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto," Snoop Dogg

Who says gangstas can't roast chestnuts on an open fire? In the 1990s, Death Row Records made their bones making murderous music, but even the label's menacing Suge Knight got into the holiday spirit. In 1996 he dropped the amazingly titled Christmas on Death Row. While the album's cover featured Santa in an electric chair, the actual disc had some more appropriate holiday tunes. Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound and the late Nate Dogg collaborated on the funky "Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto." Looks like murder wasn't always the case.

"Deck da Club," the Ying Yang Twins

Leave it to the Ying Yang Twins to transform "Deck the Halls" into a crunk club anthem. The highlight is when Kaine and brother D-Roc take the melody from "Jingle Bells" and apply it to the gentlemen's club, singing, "We gonna keep on spendin' that dough, just to see her do her thang/ Makin' her booty roll, but just don't spill my drank." Strippers celebrate Christmas too.

"Bad Santa Intro," Jim Jones featuring Sen and Shoota

No rapper has consistently represented more for St. Nick than Dipset's Jim Jones. In 2008, Jimmy dropped A Tribute to Bad Santa the second holiday album in his catalog. It was totally street though and included the standout "Bad Santa Intro," where Capo rhymed about sending commissary to his friends locked in prison and the rising price of snow and poverty in the 'hood.

"Jingle Bellz," Juelz Santana and Starr

Jim Jones isn't the only Dipset MC who gets into the holiday spirit. Juelz Santana got cozy with R7B singer Starr on a remixed version of "Jingle Bells" — with a z at the end, of course. I mean, who wouldn't want to go dashing through the snow in a four-door white Bentley?

"Cold Chillin' Christmas," the Juice Crew

In the 1980s, Marley Marl's Juice Crew was a lyrical juggernaut. Comprised of MC Shan, Roxanne Shanté, Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Craig G and Kool G. Rap, the Juice Crew released some of the rawest raps in their day. They also showed diversity in 1988 by releasing "Cold Chillin' Christmas." Definitely worth a listen.

"The Christmas Song," David Banner

Mississippi MC David Banner has never been one to bite his tongue, and on "The Christmas Song," he stays true to form. On December 23, 2003, Banner released his second solo album, MTA2: Baptized in Dirty Water, and on it was the grim-sounding "Christmas Song." Don't let the song title fool you: DB did not spread any holiday cheer. Instead, on the song's hook, he sings, "It's wintertime and we still cannot find a job/ We fill out applications but you treat us like we're slobs/ So we rob and we steal 'cause we're tryna get a meal." Santa better watch his back.

"Merry Muthaf---in' Xmas," Eazy-E

Now you know Eazy-E couldn't just do a traditional Christmas carol. The West Coast legend did make a classic, however, when he recorded "Merry Muthaf---in' Xmas," a pornographic yet hilarious interpolation of "Jingle Bells." Trust us, it's not for the squeamish.

Which is your favorite Christmas hip-hop song? Tell us in the comments!
